On New Year's Eve 1986, Oleg Proshkin, a low-ranking Soviet police investigator, is called to a disturbance in his own apartment building. Returning home, he discovers the corpse of his own double. Inside his apartment, strangers have made themselves at home: an enigmatic Santa Claus and an unusually intelligent dog named Shapka. Santa claims he has been searching for Proshkin since childhood, when the boy mailed a letter asking to be sent into space in search of his missing father. As the encounter turns violent, Proshkin is abducted and drawn into a surreal journey through fractured memories, where the boundaries between reality, identity, and madness begin to dissolve.
