Director Biography
Darryl Couchman is a 28-year-old experimental filmmaker and writer focusing on surrealism and absurdism. Interested in and influenced by "taboo" filmmakers such as Pier Paolo Pasolini, David Cronenberg, Abel Ferrara, and David Lynch, his work is saturated with unique themes that enforce the unusual. He is passionate about exploring the limits of both film and its audiences.
Initially a painter, Couchman discovered the crossover between the visual arts and film, and how film encapsulated visual art, narrative art, and performing art all into one. He studied art and design in Toronto before pursuing and studying filmmaking in his 20s.
