Director Biography
Alejandro Herrera is a Venezuelan-Spanish filmmaker based in Madrid. His work focuses primarily on fantastic cinema, with a particular interest in horror and thrillers. Alongside this, his dramatic works explore themes of migration, identity, language, and cultural hybridity.
He studied at the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC), where he completed the Postgraduate Diploma and Master's Degree in Film Directing. He later earned a Master's Degree in Executive Production for Film and Television Series at ECAM.
In 2022, he directed Las Torres y el Viento, which was selected for ten film festivals across South America, including Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre. In 2025, he directed Mandil, which received awards at film festivals in Venezuela.
His latest short film, Lupus, is currently screening at international film festivals. He is also developing a new short film and his first feature, both expanding the narrative universe of Lupus.
