Director Biography

My name is Noah Berc, and I am a filmmaker, curator, and researcher from Burlington, Ontario, Canada. I recently graduated with an MA in Screen Cultures and Curatorial Studies from Queen’s University. My research examined contemporary body horror cinema, interrogating genre as a valuable site of psychoanalysis, offering a bridge between critical inquiry and creative practice. Alongside my studies, I curate the film series Beyond the Flesh at Kingston's independent cinema, The Screening Room, where I program and introduce screenings of international body horror cinema. My previous short film, Pimple Patch (2025), has screened at festivals in the UK, Austria, the US, and across Canada. As a Deninu Kųę́ scholar, I also contributed to public history as the commissioned writer of Unmarked Waters, an Indigenous history tour for the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes. As a multidisciplinary enthusiast of cinema, my work aims to underscore the merits of filmmaking as a medium of creative expression and a catalyst for cultural production.
