Director Biography

Prabhat Gurung is a Nepalese writer-director whose work is deeply rooted in his indigenous Gurung heritage and rural upbringing. He holds an MFA in Film from The City College of New York, and a BA from Caldwell University. Most recently, he received the Forum Filmmaker Award at the 2025 Asia Pacific Screen Awards in Australia. His directional western-horror short film “The Old Man and The Grave” premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2025. He is an alumnus of Busan Asian Film Academy 2025 and BIFAN Fantastic Film School: Global Course 2026. He is currently working on his next fiction project as a writer/director titled “Son of a Honey Hunter” which was selected in Produire Au Sud- Film Lab South Asia 2023.
