Director Biography
Alejandro Moreno was born in Alicante in 1977, developing an interest in music and film from a very young age. He studied music for several years at the Oscar Esplá Superior Conservatory of Alicante.
He shot his first short films with an 8mm video camera and, after completing vocational studies in Image and Sound at the García Berlanga Institute in San Juan and attending various film and screenwriting courses in Valencia, he decided in 1997 to move to Barcelona to study at the Centre d'Estudis Cinematografics de Catalunya (CECC).
Once in Barcelona, he directed several short films featuring actors such as Adrià Collado and Màrius Hernández. He began working in the advertising industry alongside photographers like Javier Aguirresarobe and Paco Femenía, as well as directors like Isabel Coixet.
Seeking to broaden his career prospects and driven by his passion for cinema, he eventually took on roles as a director of photography in numerous short films, music videos, and feature films ("La Costa Errante" by Gustavo Fontán, 2004; "La Tierra Yerma" by Alfredo Vera, 2006; “Martians Go Home!!” by Dani Moreno, 2006; “The Waiter” by Jordi Romero, 2022).
In 2002, he began teaching photography at the CECC, the school where he had studied filmmaking. He taught basic concepts to directing students as well as more specialized courses in cinematography, focusing on the combination of technical skills and visual storytelling. He also supervised students' 16mm and 35mm film shoots.
He alternated this work with composing musical pieces and soundtracks for both film and advertising.
In 2015, he directed and served as the director of photography for his first feature-length film, the documentary Numenclature - A Progressive Journey. In 2019, he released his short film La Sierva.
His latest work as a director is the fiction short film La Última Palabra (The Last Word, 2023).
Since 2018, he has been a member of the TaShortfest (Barcelona International Humor Short Film Festival) and the production company Ozzypiuntur, led by Jordi Romero.
