Director Biography
Lauren Eden is a 23-year-old director, writer, and producer working in Toronto. Her filmmaking style can be described as absurdist feminist fairytales, however, she loves the opportunity to work on any female-focused stories. Visually, her approach is most often theatrical, bold, and whimsical. Her most recent comedic short My Digital Boyfriend (2024) was selected for the CBC Short Film Face Off and will screen across Canada in September. In addition to My Digital Boyfriend, her directorial debut is Lavenza (2024). The short is a theatrical, anachronistic, dark fairytale inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and old Hollywood cinema. Principal photography took place in March 2023 and the film was mostly funded by a 10K grant from the Society of the Creative School.
In her final year of university, she produced a short animated film, Frida in the Sky. The animation has screened in festivals globally, winning numerous awards and was shortlisted for the Student Academy Awards in 2023.
